The only major thing going for this airport is its size. Because it is so small, TSA is easy. But, there aren't that many departures, and all flights are American Eagle to Charlotte.
The airport itself is nicely maintained and easy to get to, if you have a car or a shuttle.
I typically have no issues with this airport, and have flown through here many times. I recently was leaving for my honeymoon, and forgot my work laptop. My friend arrived with plenty of time, but TSA and the gate agents refused to wait. Apparently the pilot wanted to leave early. The supervisor was incredibly rude and disrespectful, and didn’t seem to care at all. I even had a TSA agent tell me “They leave when they want to, that (departure time) doesn’t matter.” I am sure they have left people before who thought they had plenty of time.
Planes successfully took off and landed. Also, baggage was produced from the belly of the aircraft onto a type of flat rotating escalator where you had to chase and grab your bag as it deliberately moved away from you. For us, the task was easy. Not so for others. Parking requires a scanned ticket, which my phone was not accustomed to. It's an airport.
Cute, small airport. Close to Liberty University. Easy parking and car return.
One issue... 2 visits in a row, the ONLY drink vending machine after security was "Out of Order". There is NO store, nor restaurant after security. You can go back through security to get a soda, but it must be finished before you go back through security.
The only way to get anything to drink after security is to use a downstairs single water fountain.

2 months agoNice little regional airport. Unfortunately, nothing big flies in or out, but it's easy access and the TSA folks are friendly. Otherwise 5 stars.
